Authors Claim to be "Deplorables" in Bio for New Book
Dr Audie Lewis
"We are definitely Wal-Mart shopping deplorables" states Bridget Lewis, co-author of the soon-to-be-released book "Praying for our President" which she wrote alongside her husband, Dr. Audie Lewis.
The phrase coined by Hillary Clinton in her presidential election campaign race against Donald Trump in 2016, set off a firestorm of media attention and backlash as millions of Americans fondly agreed that they didn’t mind being labeled "deplorables" if it meant change in Washington. That divide has been apparent for four-plus years./p>
Deplorables or not, their bios definitely represent more than random Wal-Mart shopping. Both have business backgrounds, but Dr. Lewis is the only one to have a plethora of other books published over the past twenty-plus years including a wide variety of topics including health care, religious devotionals and even a best-selling Year 2000 (Y2K) compliance book. He is also a retired Army Officer and has been the author of the Career Progression Guide for Soldiers since the first edition was published in 1998. It is now in its 4th Edition.
Dr. Lewis is quick to defend his wife’s resume though stating, "Bridget is a much more-savvy and successful business person than I ever was. She has a brilliant mind and can think outside-the-box like no one else I’ve ever seen. I sometimes have to remind myself that her first-language is French because she has such a keen understanding of English. She is a first-generation immigrant."
Both of them claim a great love for reading the Bible. They wholeheartedly believe that God’s advice to Joshua, to meditate on his word day and night and to be careful to do all that was in it so that he would be successful in all that he did, applies just as much to us today as it did to Joshua so long ago. Of course, Joshua was the leader of Israel who took over after Moses died and subsequently brought the Israelites into the Promised Land.
Dr. Lewis quipped, "Can you imagine anyone having a tougher challenge in life than to have to follow Moses as the next leader?" He may have a good point there. Their shared love of God’s word and belief in the power of prayer helps them to meet the many challenges in their life and they believe is key to America’s future success as well.
Another critical element of their thinking as authors is an incredibly strong belief that the closer, any of us walk with God, the more we should expect to see miracles, signs and wonders all around our lives and circumstances. Dr. Lewis stated, "I believe it is just like how it was for the disciples of Jesus, the more they spent time with him, the more miracles they were able to see firsthand."
